Borussia Dortmund aren't done with transfer business yet. Having announced their fourth acquisition of the summer in Konstantinos Karetsas last week, we could yet see another player arrive at the Signal Iduna Park this summer.
The Bundesliga giants are hot on the heels of FC Koln star Said El Mala and have already seen two of their bids rejected by the Billy Goats. But the club isn't willing to give up just yet as fresh reports indicate a third offer is coming up soon.
According to Sky Germany, Dortmund are lining up a mammoth €50million offer, which includes a transfer fee of €48million with another €2million in bonuses after the player hits five Bundesliga starts and makes his Champions League debut too.
The offer reportedly could be made at the start of next week as Dortmund have significantly improved from their previous offers in order to meet Koln's demands.
As per Sky Germany's Patrick Berger, BVB's last proposal of €45million, which consisted of €37million transfer fee and €8million in bonuses, was rejected as the side remained adamant on their asking price.
Although it was reported last month that Dortmund may not make an improved offer, El Mala's willingness to join Die Schwarzgelben helped keep the interest alive and the club came back for him one more time.
Despite a second veto, the 19-year-old's transfer is supposedly viewed positively across Dortmund's hierarchy with managing director Lars Ricken and sporting director Nils-Ole Book firmly backing a move for El Mala. Head coach Niko Kovac, who also backs the bid, has reportedly spoken to him personally.
It's now prompting a third and most likely the last bid from the BVB, who are said to have internally established the €50million figure as the maximum amount they are willing to pay. But whether Koln finally accept it or not remains to be seen.
In addition, the offer also reportedly includes another five million euros in bonus payments such as if El Mala racks up five appearances for the German national team while still being a Dortmund player. So ideally, Koln would get a maximum of €55million from the transfer.
A winger by trade, Said El Mala alerted Europe with his blistering attacking exploits last season. He netted 13 goals and made another five assists for FC Koln from 34 appearances in the league as the 19-year-old rapidly developed into one of Bundesliga's most promising young talents.
