Borussia Dortmund are less than two weeks into their summer break but the management is still hard at work in figuring out their squad.

Having bid adieu to Julian Brandt, Salih Ozcan and Niklas Sule, the BVB are now making plans for their existing group of players.

Just yesterday, it was confirmed that they are in the process of negotiating Karim Adeyemi's contract extension, effectively dashing all rumors of a potential exit.

Now, the club has confirmed another player who is 'untouchable' and clarified he's not for sale.

Felix Nmecha is part of Dortmund's plans

Midfielder Felix Nmecha has been identified as part of Borussia Dortmund's plans for 2026-27 season, as confirmed by their new sporting director Nils-Ole Book.

In an interview with German news outlet BILD, he revealed that Nmecha is not for sale and affirmed that club is not willing to offload him this summer.

"“Felix will also play for us next season, that’s the clear plan.”"

It should effectively put an end to all rumors of a potential departure from Signal Iduna Park. And it's not surprising to see Dortmund keen to retain the star as he'd been one of their chief anchors in midfield.

Besides those five games between April and May which the German international missed due to a torn knee ligament, Nmecha featured in every other Bundesliga game for them, even starting 25 times.

He'd become a reliable figure in Kovac's starting XI with his impeccable dribbling style that allowed him to carry the ball forward as well as lay off passes with unerring accuracy. He also struck twice and made three assists too, while scoring another three goals in the Champions League.

Nmecha is a valuable player

He might not be the biggest star in his position, but Felix Nmecha has proven his value to Dortmund over the last two seasons with consistently top-notch displays.

In March this year, the club rewarded the player for the same by extending his contract until 2030 that is set to keep him at the club until he's 30, meaning Dortmund would get to see him in his prime years.

Under Kovac's tutelage, Nmecha could grow as a star further and even become a vital figure in their project next season.

Dortmund have therefore made a wise decision in keeping him beyond this summer as the attention now tunrs towards the future of other key squad members such as Serhou Guirassy and Nico Schlotterbeck, both of whom have been linked with an exit too.
