Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha made a compelling FIFA World Cup debut with Germany last week in their 7-1 shellacking of debutants Curacao.

The 25-year-old opened the floodgates with a blistering strike in just the sixth minute post the kick-off, slamming one into the top bin to put Die Mannschaft 1-0 up.

He remained a cause for Curacao's concern throughout his time on the field with his excellent ball-carrying ability and high press.

In 71 minutes of action, Nmecha mustered four shots and completed 95% of his passes to deliver a compelling performance that is sure to earn him another start in their next match against Ivory Coast.

Not only that, it also appears to have caught Jose Mourinho's attention, as the new Real Madrid manager wants to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Back in Madrid for a second spell at the club 14 years since his departure, Mourinho has identified him as a potentially vital component in his squad.

The Portuguese manager has reportedly made enquiries about him with Nmecha's former side Manchester City as well as their rivals Manchester United interested.

According to German news outlet BILD, Los Blancos are currently monitoring the midfielder's situation while Sky News further reported that Mourinho is a 'fan' of the player.

Nmecha had signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund until 2030 in March this year and is currently valued at €50 million while taking home an eye-popping salary of €10 million plus bonuses.

He remains indispensable to BVB, who want to keep the star for next season too but an exit clause in his contract makes Nmecha available for €80 million in 2027 and €70 million in 2028.

The prospect of playing for Real Madrid though, is tempting as it guarantees more exposure while the probability of winning a trophy is significantly higher too.

Over the last few days, the Galacticos are said to have struck a slew of signings. Marc Cucurella has joined from Chelsea whereas Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries are set to follow suit too.

Mourinho has wasted no time in getting down to business upon returning to Real Madrid, as he aims to revamp their defense but focus also remains on midfield.

With Nmecha currently away in the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, any news of a transfer is unlikely until Germany are active in the competition.

The midfielder could be seen next on 20 June against Ivory Coast.
