Borussia Dortmund have a few promising young guns in their squad and Maximilian Beier is one of them.

The 23-year-old is all set for his first World Cup with the German national team after being called-up by manager Julian Naglesmann.

He saw a fine individual campaign with the BVB in 2025-26 season, demonstrating his potential to take on a bigger role in the years ahead.

With 20 goal contributions, Beier was the most menacing player in BVB squad after only Serhou Guirassy (28). Now, the Dortmund faithful will be watching on eagerly to see if he can replicate the same exploits for Germany at the World Cup too.

What Beier brings to Germany

Maximilian Beier is a versatile forward known for intelligent movements and clinical finishing. Blessed with electric pace, he combines that with impeccable ball-control to get into attacking positions and create a chance for his cohorts like a typical Raumdeuter. He excels in counter-attacking situations too.

Speaking of scoring, the 23-year-old possesses a keen eye for goal too. He's scored 20 goals for Dortmund in two years but is yet to open his account with Germany, something the player will be looking to change at the tournament.

Beier is an exceptional provider too, making 16 assists for the BVB. For Germany though, he has been mostly deployed as the centre-forward, a position he's relatively struggled in as his forte is running down the flanks and then cutting inside.

Beier's record with Germany

Maximilian Beier still only has nine caps to his name with Germany. He received his first senior call-up in March 2024 but only made his international debut in June that year against Ukraine in a friendly just days ahead of the Euros.

At the German showpiece, he played just 26 minutes, primarily owing to his inexperience on the international stage. He made three appearances in Die Mannschaft's qualifier phase for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, all coming off the bench in the closing stages.

Having dropped from the squad for their March friendlies, there were doubts over whether Beier would make it to the showpiece event this month. But Naglesmann revealed that the door is open for him and a strong finish to club season meant the young gun was named in Germany's 26-man squad for the World Cup.

Beier also played in both their warmup games this month against Finland and USA, but once again coming off the bench on both occasions. Given the competition for places (and his relative inexperience), Naglesmann could use him as an impact substitute off the bench.
