Highly rated forward Cole Campbell has set his sights on making his breakthrough in the Borussia Dortmund first-team this season.

Cole Campbell is regarded as one of Borussia Dortmund's most exciting young talents, and recently earned his maiden call-up to the first-team squad. While he did not come off the bench against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, the 18 year old is determined to make his breakthrough this season.

Cole Campbell ready for Borussia Dortmund first-team chance

"This is an important season for me. I want to make the breakthrough with the professional team. I have to work hard for that and then we'll see how far I can go. I hope I get my chance soon," Cole Campbell told Ruhr Nachrichten.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Campbell has been showcasing his potential at the youth level. He made his debut for the BVB U-23s in the 3. Liga earlier this season, and scored his first goal for the team last month. The United States youth team international also starred in the BVB U-19s win over rivals Schalke 04 in August.

Campbell also said that he is learning a lot from Nuri Sahin, hailing the Borussia Dortmund head coach as one of the best coaches he has ever had. "Even though I haven't worked with him for long, I can already say that Nuri Sahin is one of the best coaches I've ever had. I can talk to him at any time, exchange ideas with him on a personal level."

"He was also a fantastic player, he can give me good advice and I can learn a lot from him. I'm looking forward to playing under him."

With Karim Adeyemi, Julien Duranville, and Gio Reyna all sidelined with injuries, Campbell could often find himself in the Borussia Dortmund first-team squad in the coming months. And when he gets his opportunity, he will hope to make the most of it.
