Borussia Dortmund ace Daniel Svensson is currently away on international duty with Sweden. He came off the bench in their 2-1 win over Romania before completing full 90 minutes of their 3-1 defeat of Poland.
As the Blagult continue their UEFA Nations League campaign away to Bosnia & Herzegovina tomorrow, he's once again expected to start as the Nordic side aim to keep pushing for a promotion to League A of the competition.
Svensson quashes exit rumors
Even amid some intense spell of international duty, the 24-year-old faced questions about his future from the media. There had been rumors linking Svensson with a move away from Dortmund to the Premier League or the Serie A.
English giants such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest, whereas Italian heavyweights Juventus and AC Milan were reported to have been monitoring his situation too.
When asked about this at a press conference with Sweden, Svensson was quick to play it all down. He said:
"I read something about it too. Of course it is flattering to read that. There was nothing concrete, and I had heard nothing more than what was in the media. I feel comfortable in Dortmund and am looking forward to continuing my path there."
Borussia Dortmund reportedly value Svensson at around €35–45 million.
Originally signed on loan from Danish side Nordsjaelland in February 2025, the BVB proceeded to make his move permanent later that summer.
Since then, Svensson has nailed down his place as their talismanic left wing-back. Although his numbers aren't as encouraging as Julian Ryerson's, he's still contributed 10 goals with the side.
In Sweden's last game on Monday, head coach Graham Potter fielded him as their makeshift right-back and he excelled in that position too, looking menacing with his runs and forward passes.
Dortmund fans will be delighted with his firm BVB stance
Daniel Svensson committing his future to Borussia Dortmund will be music to the ears of the club supporters, as the player enjoys massive backing from them.
He's a vital component of Niko Kovac's tactical set-up, even indispensable in the left wing-back position for his encouraging attacking forays, ball-playing ability and precise passing.
Svensson also ranked second in terms of intensive runs for the BVB in the Bundesliga last season with 2,688 runs, which tells you how vital he is in stretching out defenses and creating spaces for other attackers.
