Borussia Dortmund forward Maximilian Beier thanked Jobe Bellingham for his 'great pass' that led to his winning goal against Stuttgart on Saturday.
The BVB continued their perfect start to the Bundesliga season at the MHPArena as Beier scored in the 70th minute which earned them a 1-0 victory in the Bundesliga.
It also made it four wins from four league games this season for Die Borussen, who now remain the only team with a 100% win record in the German top-flight this season.
Coming into Saturday's fixture, Niko Kovac's side were aware of their poor record in the fixture lately as well as Stuttgart's perfect record at home in the current season (2 wins in 2).
As expected, it didn't start off well for Dortmund, who created a few chances, but the first half was a more cagey affair with neither team willing to open up completely.
Stuttgart were menacing after the break although Dortmund grew into the match, with more wise substitutions from Niko Kovac turning the tide in their favor.
Konstantinos Karetsas and Jobe Belllingham were subbed in at the 62nd minute. It nearly yielded dividends shortly after when Karetsas came in with a bright chance but whisked his shot narrowly wide.
In the 70th minute, however, both the substitutes combined to create a goalscoring chance for Beier, who grabbed it with both hands.
Karetsas squared the ball to Bellingham on the right, as the midfielder drove forward and sent a low-drive across the face of the goal.
Beier produced a splendid burst of acceleration to race clear of his marker and latch on to the pass to tap it home from close-range and finally break the deadlock for Dortmund.
He later thanked Bellingham for the assist while also taking pride in their hard-fought clean sheet in a tough away game.
Speaking to the press after the match, the 23-year-old said:
"First and foremost, we had to keep a clean sheet here at Stuttgart, and we did so emphatically throughout the 90 minutes. It was a great pass from Jobe [on the goal]. For a forward, nothing's better than only having to say thank you."
The goal was his first of the season and the first in the Bundesliga since netting in their 4-0 drubbing of Freiburg back in April. In addition to this, Beier had also bagged three assists in the new season.
Despite his encouraging form though, he won't be a part of Germany's national team this month after new manager Jurgen Klopp overlooked the forward.
