Borussia Dortmund have started looking out for Serhou Guirassy's replacements as the talismanic striker reportedly wants to leave Signal Iduna Park this summer.
One player that the BVB is currently being linked with is Real Madrid's Gonzalo Garcia, who has struggled for gametime at the club and is seeking greener pastures.
The Spaniard supposedly had a promising campaign ahead of him after announcing himself to the world with stellar displays at last year's FIFA Club World Cup where he also finished as the joint top-scorer with four goals.
However, a stiff competition for places in the Los Blancos squad means Garcia could never really nail down a starting berth despite being highly rated. Both his coaches this season, Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, have sung his praises but couldn't accomodate him in their XI in favor of bigger names in the fold.
In comes Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants could offer him a way out of Santiago Bernabeu this summer as the club is reportedly interested in bringing him to Signal Iduna Park, as per Spanish news media, Mundo Deportivo.
According to reports, Dortmund have already begun negotiations with the player's entourage and are currently looking at different ways to finalize the deal, signaling concrete interest in the 22-year-old forward.
The Black and Yellows are said to prefer either a loan move with an option to buy him permanently, or an agreement involving 50% of player's rights. Garcia could also cost €20 million and €35 million, depending on the nature of the deal struck.
Real Madrid, despite deeming him surplus to their requirements, reportedly want to add a buy-back clause in his contract that would allow them significant control over the player's future. Because without such a clause, the club is expected to raise his fee over €50 million.
Regardless of how the deal proceeds, Garcia stands to benefit immensely with a move to Dortmund. For once, the club boasts an impeccable track record of nurturing young attacking talents and secondly, can promise him consistent gametime.
Should Guirassy indeed depart, the goalscoring mantle could fall on him as the future of Dortmund's other forward Fabio Silva also looks uncertain as of now. That leaves Garcia with an incredible opportunity to become the leading man for the side.
He's played 37 times for Real Madrid this season, although most of them have been off the bench, and scored seven goals - five in LaLiga and one each in Copa Del Rey and the Spanish Supercup.
