Borussia Dortmund reportedly won't pursue Newcastle United's Nick Woltemade and Inter Milan star Benjamin Pavard as the club's transfer plan for the summer is slowly getting clarity.
The Black and Yellows had been linked with these players in recent times but according to Tribuna, a move to Signal Iduna Park may not materialize for either.
Following a club-record £65 million move to Newcastle last summer, Woltemade has struggled to carry the weight of expectations with the forward netting only 10 times in 45 games.
But he was still considered as among the options to replace Serhou Guirassy should the striker depart with a loan move being a possibility as any permanent move was unlikely.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has now cleared the air saying a transfer for Woltemade is now unlikely as Newcastle are expected to retain the forward for next season too.
This would force the BVB to look elsewhere for reinforcements should Guirassy indeed depart. The 29-year-old has come up with valuable goals for them once again this season but could reportedly be placed on the transfer list for the summer as Dortmund aim to raise funds for squad overhaul.
Di Marzio further revealed that Pavard is also not seen by Dortmund as a probable signing this summer. The Frenchman is under contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2027 but has been on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille this season with an option to buy.
His future remains uncertain and other options could apparently take priority over Dortmund.
Meanwhile in terms of departure, Daniel Svensson has garnered interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and Premier League leaders Arsenal but no concrete negotiations have reportedly been materialized.
The Rossoneri are said to be content with the options they have now while the Gunners acknowledge his qualities but aren't committing a move just yet.
Big changes are expected at Borussia Dortmund this summer, with the club set to finish trophyless for a fifth consecutive year despite a relatively good run.
They lost only thrice in the Bundesliga from 29 games but trail leaders Bayern Munich by 12 points, while they were indeed knocked out early from the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
It will be interesting to see how the summer pans out for Borussia Dortmund, who are looking ahead to one of their most important transfer windows yet.
The BVB return to action on Saturday, 18 April as they play Hoffenheim away from home in the Bundesliga.
