Borussia Dortmund return from the international break with a daunting visit to MHP Arena where bogey side VfB Stuttgart await them in a tricky Bundesliga clash.
The Black and Yellows are looking to nail down the second place in the league and qualify for the Champions League next season.
Their form holds them in good stead too as Dortmund come into the fixture on the back of three consecutive wins but Stuttgart are no pushovers either.
Die Roten are right behind them on the table with 53 points and unbeaten in their last six top-flight matches, winning their most recent two as well.
1) Dortmund's terrible record to Stuttgart
Borussia Dortmund once held a dominion in the fixture, going years unbeaten or losing to Stuttgart just once in a while. But lately, the balance has shifted.
The BVB haven't beaten them in their last seven meetings across all competitions, losing five. In fact, the Reds had completed a league double over them in 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
Earlier this season, the sides played out a pulsating 3-3 draw at the Signal Iduna Park which saw their lead wiped out twice, with Deniz Undav bringing up his hat-trick in stoppage-time on the second one.
2) Guirassy returns to his old stomping ground
An emotional reunion will also be on the cards as Serhou Guirassy returns to Stuttgart, the club where he well and truly carved a niche for himself.
Initially joining on a season-long loan in 2022, the Guinean international was signed on a permanent basis the following summer and he duly repaid the faith with a series of eye-catching displays.
Overall, the 29-year-old bagged 44 goals from 58 games, a stat that convinced Dortmund to sign him to replace the outgoing Sebastian Haller.
In three matches against Stuttgart since jumping ships, Guirassy has netted just once - back in September 2024 on his first visit to the city after the transfer.
3) Battle of two exciting attacking sides
Regardless of the outcome, we could be in for an exciting matchup here between the second and the third most menacing sides in the Bundesliga division.
While Borussia Dortmund have netted 58 goals from 27 games, Stuttgart have netted only two fewer from the same amount of matches.
Only leaders Bayern Munich have scored more (97) than these two in the league right now, while their last seven games have produced 27 goals, averaging almost four per fixture!
