Borussia Dortmund play their last Bundesliga game of the 2025-26 season away to Werder Bremen on Saturday. The BVB are hoping to finish with 73 points as they have already achieved second place in the competition and Champions League football.

Bremen, by comparison, are down in 15th place with 32 points and their safety already assured. The River Islanders are six clear of Wolfsburg, who currently occupy the relegation playoff spot, as a fifth consecutive year in the top-flight now beckons them.

This will be the third time in recent years that Dortmund and Bremen clash on the final day, previously doing so in 2015 and 2017. On both occasions, it was held at the Westfalonstadion with the BVB prevailing each time, a soft 3-2 win before a thrilling 4-3 comeback win.

Ahead of their showdown on Saturday, we look at how the rivals have fared in their last five matches:

Dortmund 1-0 Bremen (Bundesliga, 2023)

The BVB came into the fixture on the back of a four-game winning run and unbeaten from the opening seven matches of the 2023-24 season, while Bremen had lost five times already by this game, including their previous two.

Although the home side were expected to cruise here, the visitors put up a surprisingly obdurate display in defense that frustrated Dortmund. But their persistence eventually paid off in the 67th minute when Julian Brandt finally broke the deadlock.

Bremen 1-2 Dortmund (Bundesliga, 2024)

In the return fixture, Dortmund had no issues upfront with Donyell Malen making it 1-0 in 21st minute before Jadon Sancho doubled their advantage soon after.

Justin Njinmah pulled one back for the hosts in 70th minute to give them a ray of hope, but the River Islanders fell short of finding the elusive equalizer.

A firstleague double for Dortmund over Bremens since 2020-21 season.

Bremen 0-0 Dortmund (Bundesliga, 2024)

Draws had become rare between the sides lately but on August 2024, on just the second matchday, Bremen were able to hold their mighty visitors to a goalless draw.

Having drawn with Augsburg in their opening game, this marked a second consecutive draw for the River Islanders from two games into the 2023-24 season.

Dortmund 2-2 Bremen (Bundesliga, 2025)

Winless in three games, Dortmund came into the desperately needing a win and were seemingly on their way towards it after going 2-0 up by 51 minutes.

But against all the odds, Bremen struck twice through Leonardo Bittencourt and Marvin Ducksch to wipe out BVB's lead and secure a point.

Dortmund 3-0 Bremen (Bundesliga, 2026)

After starting 2026 with a 3-3 draw to Eintracht Frankfurt, Dortmund were able to pick up their first win of the calendar year with a 3-0 vanquish of Die Werderaner.

Nico Schlotterbeck gave them an early lead, before Marcel Sabitzer and Serhou Guirassy scored apiece in the final 15 minutes of the clash to consolidate their grip on the match.
