The five Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland have become a conveyor belt of talents in recent times.
Many big names are plying their trade for mighty sides across Europe's top five leagues, with Borussia Dortmund included.
The BVB have two such Nordic talents on their books right now in Julian Ryerson and Daniel Svensson, both of whom have been summoned by Norway and Sweden respectively for this international window.
Ryerson is back with Norway
Following his meteoric rise with Dortmund last season that yielded a staggering 18 assists, Julian Ryerson has become a hot commodity in Europe with many big clubs having the full-back on their radar.
Although he's yet to open his assist tally in the Bundesliga this season, Ryerson has been a prolific supplier of crosses for their forwards with his traditional domineering runs forward, something that Norway would hope to see from him too.
With 47 international caps to his name, Ryerson is on the cusp of hitting the coveted half-century mark during this international window if he plays at least three of their four clashes over the next few weeks.
Norway are set to play Denmark (H), Portugal (H), Wales (A) and Portugal (A) again from 24 September to 4 October for the first four of their six Nations League fixtures in Group 4 of League A while the rest will be played in November.
Svensson gets Sweden call-up
As for Daniel Svensson, the left wing-back of Dortmund has been called up to Sweden's 26-man squad for their matches against Romania, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania again for a hectic three-week schedule.
Like Dortmund's other international stars, it's unlikely that Svensson will feature in all four matches as the risk of workload is real for players. But we could see him strut his stuff for important games, such as the one against Poland and away to Bosnia.
Born in Stockholm, the 24-year-old has 16 caps with the Blagult since debuting on the international stage in 2024 against Estonia. His top-notch performances with the BVB last season earned him a World Cup call-up this year too, but started in only their Last-32 loss to France.
At Dortmund, he's an impactful left full-back who makes buccaneering runs in the half-space to play a key role in linking up plays while also tracking back effectively in transitions. But Sweden only utilized him on the right side of the midfield and defense at the World Cup this year.
