Borussia Dortmund has a higher chance of getting Champions League football following their 4-2 away win over Leverkusen at the BayArena. With that in mind, the Black and Yellows will be daring in the summer transfer window to try to improve what is working already with Niko Kovač's 3-4-3 system. According to SkySports journalist Patrick Berger, Sebastian Kehl and company already have specific positions they would like to target.

Borussia Dortmund's transfer targets for the summer are: a box-to-box midfielder, in which Jobe Bellingham is the number one target; a number 10, with Rayan Cherki still on the list after a failed attempt to bring him in the winter; a centre-back who can also play on the left, as Ramy Bensebaini is covering that role in Schlotterbeck's absence; and a back-up striker for Serhou Guirassy.

The profile Borussia Dortmund are currently looking for as a Guirassy back-up is a young striker. For instance, Ante Crnac remains on BVB's list and is still being monitored, while the academy talent Youssoufa Moukoko has apparently no future at the club, according to Berger.

With more prospects of playing the biggest club competition on the planet, Borussia Dortmund is apparently looking to reinvest their efforts for the next campaign. After collecting mistake after mistake at the beginning of the season, BVB finally looks to be on the right track to build a more competitive team; hence, this summer transfer window will have a lot to tell, mainly with the Club World Cup also on the horizon.
