Borussia Dortmund fought back from two goals down to beat Hamburg 3-2 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
A brace from Ramy Bensebaini coupled with a goal from Serhou Guirassy guided them past their spirited visitors, who appeared on course to pick up a shock win in the first half.
Languishing in the bottom half of the standings, Hamburg went in front after 19 minutes as Philip Otele broke the deadlock.
Albert Sambi Lokonga then doubled their advantage in the 38th minute as Signal Iduna Park was silenced.
Dortmund though, got their act together after the break and struck thrice, including two penalties from Bensebaini as the Black and Yellows survived an almighty scare.
With 61 points in the bag from 27 games, Niko Kovac's side strengthened their position in second place of the Bundesliga standings.
Another epic comeback for the books
Borussia Dortmund have scripted some really incredible comebacks in their Bundesliga history and this one ranks among the best this season.
Trailing 2-0 at home at the break and staring at a potential defeat, Die Borussen upped the ante after the break to score thrice.
Set-piece supremacy was on display again as the hosts converted two penalties, while talismanic striker Guirassy got on target too with a scrappy goal nonetheless.
Old issues resurface
Dortmund have been one of the meanest sides in the German top-flight this season but still have a propensity to concede goals at the most unlikely of the times.
Against Hamburg, who are playing in the Bundesliga after seven years, the BVB were supposed to cruise to an easy victory here given their spectacular home record too this season.
But as we've seen multiple times this season, some sloppy play allowed their rivals to steal a march over them as Hamburg led 2-0 at the break against all the odds.
If Dortmund were to mount a serious challenge next term, such defensive lapses must stop. Last night they managed to get themselves out of the hole, but may not have such luck against the better sides.
Bensebaini, the penalty king
Ramy Bensebaini is a penalty speciality. We were reminded of the same last night too as the Algerian clinically dispatched two in a game to win it for Dortmund.
His first of the night was a risky one, with Bensebaini slowly nudging through the centre although Hamburg goalkeeper guessed the wrong way.
In the 84th minute, Bensebaini had another chance from 12 yards and once again, calmly slotted the ball into the right corner instead of smashing it into the top bin.
That's 14 scored from 14 attempts, and he's just a defender!
