Borussia Dortmund have reportedly rejected an initial bid for defender Ramy Bensebaini from Turkish side Galatasaray.

Reports emerging from Turkish media sources indicate that the Istanbul outfit had submitted an offer of €7 million for the Algerian international, a figure that meets his current market value.

However, the Black and Yellows are said to have turned it down, perhaps because the offer is well below of their asking price for Bensebaini, who is under contract with them until 2027.

The 31-year-old has grown in influence on the squad under Niko Kovac, making the left-back position his own with a series of solid displays in the league and beyond.

He has seamlessly operated from the centre-back position too whenever the Croatian has rotated as Bensebaini offers immense tactical flexibility with his versatile nature.

It has also visibly garnered attention from other quarters of Europe with Galatasaray swift to submit a bid as the Turkish champions have already begun preparing for the 2026-27 season.

As the side aims to compete for trophies on multiple fronts while also looking to make a deep run in the Champions League, they want experienced stars within their rank who can help them in their endeavors.

With Bensebaini emerging as one of the best defenders in Europe this season while also commanding a significant international experience, he seems to fit Galatasaray's requirements.

Their €7 million bid is a further reflection of the club's seriousness in pursuing the player as they look to reinforce key areas in the squad with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Dortmund not entertaining their offer must have been a blow for now, but if Galatasaray remain undeterred in their pursuit, the BVB would expect them to table a bigger offer next time.

That's because Die Borussen are not looking to sell the player. Bensebaini doesn't appear to be on the chopping block like some other first-team stars who could be put on sale this summer with the club aiming for a massive squad overhaul after falling short of expectations this season.

However, their transfer ambitions could evolve depending on how the summer plays out and if in case there could be a managerial change too. Niko Kovac has done admirably in his first full season at the club but fell way short of challenging Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, while also going out early in the DFB Pokal and the Champions League.
