Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga in style with a 4-0 shellacking of Freiburg at the Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.
Maximilian Beier, Serhou Guirassy, Ramy Bensebaini and Fabio Silva all struck apiece as the Black and Yellows turned in a stellar display in front of a thronging home crowd for 1000th game there.
The win saw them move to 67 points from 31 games and solidify their position in second place on the league table as Champions League qualification is officially secured now.
Coming into the fixture on the back of two consecutive wins, Freiburg were a pale shadow of their selves here, looking absolutely flat and toothless.
Having pegged Dortmund back with a late equalizer at home in their earlier league meeting, the Breisgau-Brasilianer didn't enjoy any such luck and succumbed to their 12th loss of the season.
Dortmund return to winning ways, and how!
Borussia Dortmund were flying after four consecutive league wins, only to then succumb to back-to-back defeats and their season suddenly appeared to be on the rocks.
With Bayern Munich becoming champions, their already-slim title hopes were totally diminished and Champions League qualification remained on ice.
But on Sunday, the BVB were back in their element: dominant, menacing and fiesty, taking the game by the scruff of the neck to score thrice inside the opening half.
It was just the second time in the Bundesliga this season that Niko Kovac's side led 3-0 at the break, previously doing so against Mainz on 3 February 2026.
Although the game's tempo declined after the break, there was time for one more goal as Silva volleyed one in on the bottom-right corner, evading a handful of red shirts in the build-up.
Samuele Inacio shines on debut
He'd been waiting patiently on the wings for a while now as Kovac finally unleashed him on Sunday and Samuele Inacio did not disappoint. In fact, the young gun demonstrated why he's so highly-rated.
Operating behind striker Serhou Guirassy, Inacio combined superbly with his fellow attacking cohorts and took the game to Freiburg with his directness, pace and tenacity.
He helped create the second goal with brilliant and timely movement topped off with a sublime pass for Julian Brandt while coming agonizingly close to bagging a goal in the 60th minute.
In his first league start of the season, Inacio created three chances, completed 93% of his passing accuracy, won 100% of his aerial duels and laid two successful crosses.
Dortmund fans would love to see more of him in the coming matches.
Ryerson edges closer to club record for assists
Prolific assist-maker Julian Ryerson was back to his creative best when he sent in yet another sublime corner for Ramy Bensebaini to head in on Sunday.
That was his 13th assist for the season. The Norwegian ace is now just one behind Jadon Sancho's record of 14 in a single Bundesliga season for Dortmund.
With three more games remaining, Ryerson will be fancying his chances. The full-back has had a phenomenal campaign, establishing himself as one of the best attacking defender.
