Borussia Dortmund haven't really had many English players on their books. With Ethan Nwaneri joining them on loan from Arsenal, the 19-year-old is in fact just their fifth player from England.
Here's a rundown of his compatriots that donned the fabled the Black and Yellow colors before him:
Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho became Dortmund's first-ever English player when he joined from Manchester City at 17 years of age in August 2017 and remains their best till date too.
Although he had a slow start at first, Sancho soon found his feet at the club and went hell for leather, emerging as their creative talisman whilst also possessing a keen eye for goal.
During his four-year spell with BVB, he racked up 158 appearances in all competitions and scored 53 goals while making another 67 assists, winning the 2019 DFL Supercup and the 2020-21 DFB-Pokal.
Signed for only £8 million, Sancho's transfer to Manchester United in 2021 fetched Dortmund a whopping £73 million, just over nine times their original investment.
Jude Bellingham
During Sancho's last season at Dortmund, he was joined by another up-and-coming Englishman in Jude Bellingham.
Die Borussen spotted his talents at Birmingham City and wasted no time in bringing him to Signal Iduna Park, where he too molded himself into a serious prospect.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Bellingham carved a niche for his tactical intelligence, ability to switch plays with his accurate passing and a stunning burst of pace.
Before his high-profile move to Real Madrid, he racked up 132 caps for Dortmund, scored 24 goals, teed up 25, and lifted the 2020-21 DFB-Pokal cup too.
Jamie Gittens
Another Englishman, another attacker. Jamie Gittens joined Dortmund's youth academy in 2020 after two years at Manchester City. In 2022, he finally broke into BVB's senior team but injuries wreaked havoc during the first two years.
But he turned things around from 2023-24 season onwards, displaying consistency in fitness as well as performances, even showing up in the big games to make a difference for Dortmund. Last year, Chelsea swooped him away to Stamford Bridge.
Jobe Bellingham
The only active Englishman at the club right now (besides Nwaneri, of course), Bellingham followed in his brother's footsteps, joining Dortmund from Birmingham last year although first-team opportunities were hard to come.
But Bellingham didn't stop. He keptr displaying value in the side and has now become an indispensable member of the midfield-four, forging an enviable partnership with Felix Nmecha.
