Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has been one of the standout performers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted jointly by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The 25-year-old German scored in his national team’s first game against Curaçao and in the second game against the Ivory Coast, he provided a sumptuous assist to Deniz Undav, which proved to be the winner.
His overall performance, both attack-wise and defensively, was eye-catching in both games.

According to reports, Bayern have made contact with Nmecha’s representatives.
According to SPORTBILD, Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director, Max Eberl, has recently contacted Felix Nmecha's representatives to express Bayern's interest. In addition to that, clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have all inquired about Nmecha while Real Madrid are also said to be interested.

Nmecha’s release clause becomes €80 million in the summer of 2027 and €70 million in 2028.
Before the World Cup started, it was obvious that Nmecha would attract so many eyes if given the opportunity. And he has done just that. Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has entrusted him with the key role of anchoring the midfield and he didn’t disappoint.
In their both group fixtures so far, Nmecha played a crucial role for his side by dictating play, creating chances, making important passes and contributing defensively by making important interventions, besides the two direct goal-involvements too.
Since signing for Borussia Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023, Nmecha has grown in his role in the team. Despite struggling with injuries initially, he has become a very important member of the squad and a match-winner.
Nmecha was crucial in the side that reached the Champions League final in 2024 before losing 2-0 to Real Madrid. He also scored an important goal in the group stage to seal a victory against Newcastle United, which turned Borussia Dortmund’s season around.
It would be understandable if Nmecha wants to take the next step in his career. And from what the reports suggest, he has a lot of clubs to choose from.
Having come through the Manchester City academy, a return to the Etihad would seem tempting for for the 25-year-old, while Manchester United themselves are looking for a midfielder who can dictate play and is commanding in presence. They can’t do much better than Nmecha.
Nmecha is now a hot commodity in the transfer market and Dortmund will have a lot of homework to do if they are to keep the midfielder beyond this summer.
