Midfield: Emre Can, Pascal Groß, Julian Brandt
It will be interesting to see if Nuri Sahin decides to change things up in midfield after the team's flat performance away to Union Berlin before the international break.
Emre Can will hope to keep his place in the starting XI. Although against a St. Pauli side that will likely look to sit deep, it might make more sense to go with an attack-minded number six. Marcel Sabitzer is coming off two excellent performances for Austria and deserves the opportunity to play from the start.
Pascal Groß had a difficult outing against Union Berlin and will hope for a much better showing against St. Pauli.
In attacking midfield, Julian Brandt will likely retain his place in the side. Sahin will hope to see the playmaker dominate proceedings on Friday, and his ability to pick out the right passes will be crucial against a team that will apply the low block.
