Marcel Sabitzer was in inspired form on Sunday evening as he led the resurgent Austria to an incredible 5-1 win over Norway in the UEFA Nations League.
It was Marcel Sabitzer vs Julian Ryerson as Austria and Noway faced off in the UEFA Nations League. And it was a stunning win for Ralf Rangnick's side, with the in-form Sabitzer setting up two of the goals. Ryerson also ended the evening with an assist, but wasn't able to prevent Norway from suffering a heavy defeat.
Marcel Sabitzer continues excellent run of form for Austria
Austria started the game on the front foot and Marko Arnautović got the scoring underway after just eight minutes. Alexander Sørloth then got on the end of Ryerson's free-kick to head home Norway's equaliser in the 39th minute.
Arnautović restored Austria's lead from the penalty spot early in the second-half, before SC Freiburg's Philipp Lienhart made it 3-1 with a fine looping header.
Sabitzer then set up Stefan Posch and Michael Gregoritsch with two excellent crosses into the box from the left wing as Austria claimed a thumping 5-1 win.
Former Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland played 90 minutes for Norway but wasn't able to make the desired impact, while Julian Ryerson was taken off at the hour mark. Marcel Sabitzer was on the pitch for the entire game despite having to play with a bandage on his head due a collision in the first-half.
The win takes Austria level on points with Norway in their UEFA Nations League group, with two matchdays left in the group stage. Slovenia, in third place, also have seven points after four matches.
