"Get it together!" - Fans react as Dortmund are level at 1-1 against Sabah at Champions League half-time

Borussia Dortmund are level at the break against Sabah FK in the Champions League, with the tie currently tied at 1-1 at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan.

Serhou Guirassy fired the BVB in front after 10 minutes, but the home side responded with a goal of their own through Aden McCarthy from a set-piece.

The BVB had started the match brightly, with Guirassy, Felix Nmecha and Fabio Silva all getting on target inside the opening 10 minutes of the match.

Joey Veerman also had a shot on target midway through the half from a well-taken free-kick from the edge of the box that Sabah goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov saved just before the line.

Sabah, hemmed into their own half for much of the play, were threatening on the counter but their persistence paid off from a set-piece.

Tymoteusz Puchacz whipped in a diagonal free-kick from near the edge of the box, which McCarthy rose to head home for 1-1.

The Owls came in two more chances in the final minutes of the match, but Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved both to prevent them from going in front.

Dortmund fans are unhappy with the scoreline and made their frustrations clear on X. Here are some of the reactions:

One disgruntled fan questioned the club's decision to extend Kovac's contract:

"They can’t even be better than SABAH! Whose idea was it to renew Niko Kovac’s contract until 2029?"

Another fan tweeted:

"What happened ? No joke or meme ? That all we do right, post memes and give contracts con garbage coachs, Sahin, Kovac, Kehl all trash"

Calls for Kovac to get sacked has been growing lately, with this fan writing:

"Time to fire kovac
Too much mediocrity
Mediocre mindset players and on top of that, a mediocre coach"

This X user pulled no punches, calling BVB 'pathetic':

"So incredibly obvious that not a single player outside of Fabio Silva wants to play tonight. Absolutely pathetic performance"

The sentiment was shared by another fan who tweeted:

"Embarrassing

But Kovac will be happy with this draw 🤮🤮🤮"

One BVB fan is still expecting an easy win in the second half:

"No reason you don’t win 3-1. Get it together!!"

This X user asked sarcastically:

"Are y’all professional footballers or part time farmers???"

Another X user who is backing Kovac's firing as the manager:

"Please sack Kovac.. He is turning BVB into a third grade team who probably would even lose against Bundesliga-2 teams at this rate!! 'Complete horror show.. You just cannot watch this shit they are doing.. 'Absolutely nothing from them!!"
