Borussia Dortmund lost 2-1 to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday as Andrej Kramaric netted stoppage-time winner from penalty spot to down their desperate visitors.
The Croatian fired in one in the opening stanza after Niklas Sule was penalized for a handball. Substitute Serhou Guirassy appeared to snatched a point for the BVB late on but Kramaric converted another spot-kick in the eighth added minute.
With a second league defeat in a row, Bayern were officially crowned champions after a 4-2 win over Stuttgart on Saturday, leaving Dortmund what could have been following such a promising top-flight campaign.
Here are some grim stats from the Hoffenheim loss:
Consecutive defeats
Borussia Dortmund went from being one of the toughest sides to beat to losing two league games in a row, a first since March 2025. Back then, the BVB weren't competing for the title and were instead languishing outside of top-four places as Kovac was still only settling into the job.
Anton hits 250 games
BVB defender Waldemar Anton brought up his 250th appearance in the Bundesliga, including 54 in Dortmund colors. The German international has made the highest representation in the competition with Stuttgart, where he spent four years and amassed 127 games. Previously, the defender also played another 69 times in the Bundesliga with Hannover.
Mane back in action
Filippo Mane featured in a matchday squad for the first time in two and a half months. The 21-year-old had been sidelined over the past couple of weeks with an injury but had recovered enough for Kovac to call him up. But the Italian youngster remained an unused substitute at the PreZero Arena.
Dortmund's dream run ends
Die Schwarzgelben came into the fixture having won on their last five consecutive trips to Hoffenheim. It was one of their longest runs away from home against a side in the Bundesliga, which was enough to give them a psychological advantage. But the BVB totally fumbled this time around as defensive lapses allowed Die Kraichgauer to end their treacherous run at home in the fixture.
Kramaric comes back to haunt BVB
After Robert Lewandowski, Andrej Kramaric is another player who has made it a habit to score against Dortmund. In fact, the Croatian now has 11 goals against the side. For the record, he's only struck more times against Hertha Berlin in his club career. Moreover, Kramaric extended his penalty record to 17 now, having struck two more on Saturday against Dortmund.
