Guinean star Serhou Guirassy scored the winning goal in their AFCON qualifier win over Kenya and fans couldn't keep calm.

The Borussia Dortmund ace was on target in the 32nd minute, rounding off a brilliant move with a precise finish that gave his side all three points.

In honor of his heroics, Guinean fans lapped him up with an encouraging chant as Guirassy left the stadium in the team bus.

In a story he posted on Instagram, local supporters could be seen chasing the moving bus, desperate to catch a glimpse of their prolific marksman.

A few seconds into the clip, fans began chanting "Guirassy Guirassy" in a festive fervor as more people joined in hymning the star's name.

The crowd's reaction sums up the BVB ace's influence back home. There's no doubt that Guirassy is the face of the current Guinean squad, while his stature certainly went up a few notches after his high-profile move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in 2024.

Born in France, where he also lined up for their international youth teams, Guirassy eventually switched allegiance and opted to represent his country of origin at senior level.

He made his debut for the Republic of Guinea in March 2022 in a friendly draw with South Africa in Belgium, while he was still a VfB Stuttgart player.

It took him six games to open his goalscoring account for the National Elephants, pulling one back against Egypt in a 2-1 AFCON qualifier loss in June 2023.

Interestingly, his goalscoring average shot up after his move to Dortmund, bagging nine goals in 12 games for Guinea after having accrued just three from his previous 18 caps.

With 12 goals now, he's among their top 10 goalscorers in history, but still has some way to go before surpassing Ibrahima Diallo's all-time record of 33 goals.

Guirassy returns to Dortmund

With no further international games for Guinea this week, their international window is official over and Serhou Guirassy can return to Dortmund.

Niko Kovac and co. will be delighted to have their star striker back without any injury concern as the BVB are looking forward to a congested fixture list over the next five weeks.

In fact, the German giants are set to play nine times between next weekend and the next international window in November; nine games in a span of just 29 days.

With a fit and firing Guirassy leading the line, the BVB will be confident of coming through this stressful period with flying colors.
