In light of the newly disclosed release clause on Serhou Guirassy's contract, new information has been made available regarding the details. More specifically, Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger has revealed which clubs are able to trigger the clause and take Serhou out of the Signal Iduna Park.
From Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only clubs from La Liga that can allure Serhou out of Germany. The Premier League is also reportedly another possible destination for Guirassy, with several clubs from the top half of the table, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
With his contract set to expire in 2028, Guirassy has no plans to leave Borussia Dortmund at the current stage, and he has held no talks with other clubs. The Guinean goal-scorer greatly appreciates that BVB believed in him despite his knee issues, even making him one of the club’s top earners.
As much as there has been talk in the media and within the fanbase surrounding Guirassy's future, the Black and Yellows are pleased with Serhou. He has 29 goals and 8 assists this season, and the board sees him as one of the faces of their rebuild.
According to Berger, the indication is that Guirassy will wear Black and Yellow next season, but the subject could heat up again if he completely misses out on European business, which is the case right now as BVB finds itself in seventh place in the Bundesliga table. Therefore, the European race becomes even more critical to Dortmund, as that factor will likely be pivotal in retaining the squad's best players.
