Borussia Dortmund gear up for another challenge in the Bundesliga as they welcome Bayer Leverkusen to Westfalonstadion on Saturday for their clash on matchday 29.
Coming into the fixture on the back of a four-game winning run, the Black and Yellows are in second place of the league standings with 64 points from 28 games.
Niko Kovac's side are inching closer to qualifying for the Champions League and will be buoyed by their ambition here to take down Leverkusen.
However, Die Werkself are in high spirits too following their 6-3 comeback victory over Wolfsburg last weekend. Trailing 3-1 after only 38 minutes, the North Rhine-Westphalia outfit struck five times - including four in the second half - to secure a memorable victory that underscored their quality.
Ahead of another high-octane clash between Dortmund and Leverkusen, here's a rundown of how the sides fared against each other in their last five official clashes:
Dortmund 1-1 Leverkusen (April 2024, Bundesliga)
Fresh off beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, Borussia Dortmund hosted Leverkusen for their second consecutive home game but the players were clearly fatigued.
It took them 81 minutes to finally break the deadlock as Niklas Fullkrug appeared to have salvaged a late win for the BVB, but Josip Stanisic silenced the home crowd with a stoppage-time equalizer.
Dortmund 2-3 Dortmund (January 2025)
Dortmund were five Bundesliga games unbeaten coming into this fixture but that was all falling apart inside the opening 10 minutes as Leverkusen raced to a 2-0 lead.
Jamie Gittens made it 2-1 in the 12th minute but the frantic pace of the match continued with Patrick Schick restoring Leverkusen's two-goal advantage another seven minutes later.
Serhou Guirassy struck a penalty late on to reduce the deficit again but Dortmund fell short of finding the equalizing goal and succumbed to their fifth top-flight loss of the season.
Leverkusen 2-4 Dortmund (May 2025, Bundesliga)
At this point, Niko Kovac had taken over and Dortmund were flying high. They were six games unbeaten in the Bundesliga and had won their last three before visiting the BayArena.
But Die Werkself appeared to tear the script again when Jeremie Frimpong gave them the lead in the 30th minute before Dortmund responded with four goals to effectively kill the tie.
Jonas Hofmann's stoppage-time goal was nothing more than a consolation for the battered hosts.
Leverkusen 1-2 Dortmund (November 2025, Bundesliga)
After back-to-back draws to Hamburger and Stuttgart, Dortmund were losing ground in the title race with Bayern Munich, who had beaten them 2-1 just weeks before.
Holding a solid backline, they went in front towards the end of the first half when Anselmino opened the scoring before Adeyemi doubled their advantage after the hour mark.
Like in the earlier clash, Leverkusen scored another late goal, this time through Christian Kofane in the 83rd minute, but ultimately lost for the second time in a row.
Dortmund 0-1 Leverkusen (December 2025, DFB-Pokal)
Just four days later, Dortmund and Leverkusen renewed hostilities, this time in the German Cup and Die Werkself managed to extract revenge too as they pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory in Dortmund.
Ibrahim Maza struck the only goal of the game in the 34th minute, handing Leverkusen the win against Dortmund in their first-ever cup encounter.
