Borussia Dortmund defender Luca Reggiani struck his first goal for the club on Saturday after netting a header off a corner in their 2-0 win at the Signal Iduna Park.

Turning 18 only in January this year, the Italian had been making waves with their youth side, so much so that he received his first senior call-up in February.

Although his first appearance ended up being a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo against Wolfsburg wherein he came on in the 90th minute, Reggiani remained on Kovac's radar.

With Ramy Bensebaini sidelined from the weekend's clash due to a suspension, the teenager was called up to the squad again and even started the game in defense, his second in the league.

In the 59th minute when Julian Ryerson played a corner, Reggiani rose high enough to connect with it and arrow it into the back of the net for 2-0, consolidating Dortmund's grip on the match.

His jubilant celebrations showed how much it meant to him as his teammates joined the young gun in his celebrations as Reggiani was off the mark for the Black and Yellows.

After the game while speaking to the press, he further expressed delight upon scoring his first goal while also thanking the club for their support.

""Crazy. I could not believe it when the ball went in. I can't describe the feeling. It was really really amazing. [...] One month ago i had my debut, then Champions League, now my first goal. I am very happy about what is happening. Thanks to the club.""
said Reggiani

On 18 February, Reggiani made his Champions League debut for Dortmund as he started as one of the centre-backs in their 2-0 win over Atalanta. Even in a high stakes clash of this magnitude, the youngster turned in a solid display that reinforced his qualities.

Against Augsburg, he took it up a notch further to even score a goal; his first in Dortmund colors. Moreover, it also made him the youngest ever Italian (18 years and 64 days) to net in the German Bundesliga - all the while being a defender! A remarkable feat to say the least.

Given his meteoric progress right now, it won't be too long before Reggiani even nails down a spot at the heart of Dortmund's defense, especially if Nico Schlotterbeck were to leave this summer. Given his age, he certainly needs to play more to hone his skills further.
