"I’d sell both of them right away" - Fans react as Dortmund are level 2-2 with Roma at half-time

Borussia Dortmund fought back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 and head into the break level with AS Roma in their final preseason game of the summer.

Having demonstrated their fearsome potential against Premier League champions Arsenal last weekend, the BVB were hit with Giallorossi's fast start.

Star forward Paulo Dybala fired them in front after just three minutes before Bryan Cristante doubled their advantage from an inch-perfect corner delivery by Dybala in the ninth minute.

Dortmund soon got their act together and started getting forward with purpose. Julian Ryerson, in his first appearance for the BVB since returning from the World Cup, pulled one back with a scrappy finish from close-range in the 12th minute.

He then turned provider for Guirassy a while later, delivering a free-kick inside the box which Guirassy comfortably latched onto with no one mark him, and finished it at the near post.

And just like that, Dortmund were level. Having made a sloppy start to the match, Kovac's side displayed excellent character and determination to come back into the game.

Fans gave their reactions on X, whilst also sharing a few player observations:

With Karetsas having another strong game, this X user praised Dortmund for their transfer business:

"Don Ole will bring us, alongside Karetsas, who is the best 10 in the world, God willing, another 2-3 proper footballers.

Everyone can see that Karetsas is two levels above the squad in terms of footballing ability. It's madness that they managed to get someone like him for 30m."

This fan criticized BVB's lackluster showing from set-pieces:

"We defended two corners poorly, but since then we've been playing a relatively solid game and Dortmund football Twitter is flipping out again about how embarrassing it all is. We could play prime Barca football and they'd complain that we're focusing too much on possession."

However, this X user wasn't pleased with two players in particular:

"Jobe and Svensson are really unbelievably bad, I’d sell both of them right away"

One fan wasn't happy with Ryerson and Svensson's positioning but offered some purple prose for Karetsas:

"This nonsense with Ryerson on the left and Svensson on the right needs to stop immediately.
Otherwise, it looks pretty good overall, even though once again way too much has been hammered out at the beginning.

Karetsas is a monster; we need another player type like that."

Ryerson, who scored and assisted in the game, had a surprise critic here:

"I can't take another season of Ryerson, those crosses as well as his defensive behavior and his overall play are torture for the eyes.
Bensebaini almost just as shit
Jobe so far also pretty disappointing again."

Joane Gadou also earned some prise today:

"Gadou is such a beast. I’d go into any fight with him—wow."
