Borussia Dortmund striker Fabio Silva has expressed delight at scoring his first goal of their pre-season campaign on Saturday as the BVB beat FC Tokyo 1-0.
The Portuguese striker whipped a powerful strike from near the edge of the box that found the bottom corner beyond the dispairing dive of Tokyo goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu.
Speaking to the press after the match, he revealed that he'd been training hard and had a poin to prove to his coach.
"“I feel good. I trained hard during my vacation to prove myself this season. And of course, I’m trying to be in top form during practice. I want to be ready to do whatever the coach and the strength and conditioning coaches ask of me. So I’m really refreshed and feel like I’m ready to play again.”"as quoted on the official website
Starting for the first time since their opening match against RW Oberhausen on 18 July, Silva was full of attacking flair and flamboyance, taking the game to FC Tokyo with his pace and directness while displaying sublime link-up play.
Besides the winning goal, the 24-year-old also created two big chances in the game while also laying two crosses albeit both went begging. He admitted that him and his team should get better at delivering that killer final ball which could lead to more goals.
"“We had some good stretches with the ball in the first half. Of course, we can still improve in certain situations – for example, with the final pass – myself included. There were moments when I could have made better passes on two or three plays, but that’s normal; after all, it’s preseason.""he added
Silva hopes to get their act together in the new season, which kick off this month with a mouth-watering showdown against arch rivals Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on 22 August while emphasizing their desire to win trophies after finishing empty handed once again last term.

We played a lot of good games, but we want to develop a winning mentality and win titles. Because playing for these colors means winning titles. That’s exactly what we want to achieve this season.”"
Borussia Dortmund continue their pre-season against Arsenal at the Emirates Cup on 9 August.
