Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy is all the praises for rivals Bayern Munich. The Bavarians won a record-extending 34th title at a canter and currently boast a massive 16-point lead at the top of the table.

The BVB were hot on the coattails of their Der Klassiker rivals until the end of February, trailing them by only six points before a downturn in form allowed Bayern to win the league crown sooner than expected.

Guirassy, who failed to score in both their league defeats to Bayern this season, expressed his frustration at losing out to Bayern and having to contend with the second place again. But he acknowledged that the Munich outfit just too good for anyone, in a recent interview with Bundesliga:

""Second place is frustrating and annoying. Bayern Munich were really, really good this year, though. You can see it in the UEFA Champions League too, even though they lost against Paris Saint-Germain. Right now, I think they are one of the two best teams in Europe.""
said the Guinean international

Statistically, the Bavarians have enjoyed one of their best campaigns in recent memory. Their tally of 86 points is already four more than what they managed last season and could still add three more on the final day today. Moreover, they have shattered Bundesliga's all-time goalscoring record of 101 with 117 goals to their names in 33 games. For context, Dortmund have the second highest goals at 68.

They also marched all the way to the Champions League semi-finals where reigning champions PSG beat them 6-5 on aggregate, but Bayern can complete the league double with a win over Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal finals on Wednesday.

Guirassy stressed that winning against them is vital to winning the Bundesliga, as Dortmund aren't satisfied with the second place, even though it's their highest top-flight finish in three years and want to lift silverware.

""To become champions, you have to win games against Bayern because even they can drop points, although it’s difficult against them. Second place is not enough for us though, because when you play for Dortmund, you want to win titles.""
added the 30-year-old striker

Indeed, Borussia Dortmund last won the Bundesliga title in 2012 under Jurgen Klopp. Since then, the BVB's dominance has faded with Bayern hegemonizing the league with 10 titles in a row before Bayer Leverkusen ended it in 2024 for their first ever Meisterschale. But since then, the Bavarians have been back on top, comfortably relciaming their crown in 2024 and 2025 both.
