Borussia Dortmund have officially unveiled their third kits for the 2026-27 season and it has drawn mixed reactions from their supporters.

The BVB have traded their traditional black and yellow for a bold purple design with vibrant neon colors as Puma have opted for an all-new look for the upcoming campaign.

Vice President of Teamsport at PUMA, Dominique Gathier revealed that the intention for opting these colors was to give their fans something unique while retaining some of its traditional look.

""With this third kit, we wanted to give Dortmund supporters something they haven't seen before while keeping what makes this club distinct. The purple is new, but it's still unmistakably BVB. This is a shirt for fans who want to wear their support differently—on the terraces or wherever they're following the team from.""
he said.

The launch coincides with Dortmund's pre-season tour of Japan where the new kits will be displayed on the world's largest permanent advertising display in Tokyo, where they are scheduled to play on Saturday.

However, the kit has drawn mixed reactions from the fans. While a few were impressed with the new look, others questioned the idea and drew comparisons with other kits across Europe that have a purple base.

Here are some of the best fan reactions on X:

One verified X user issued a scathing takedown of the new kit as they wrote:

""Unless this is for some cause I’m unaware of these are dumb. We are yellow and black. Not purple. Not that awful neon green and grey kits from last season.""

Another X user tweeted:

""Wicked colour, unfortunately Puma shirts are horrid"

One user posted a positive review o

""“Shine different” is a sharp fit for a third kit meant to break from the usual black-and-yellow identity.""

Another fan drew comparisons between Adidas and Puma jerseys:

""Adidas is cooking with some insane retro jerseys, meanwhile puma 💩""

Another fan was content with the look of the third kits but slammed the sponsor:

""Gorgeous shirt but ruined by the red in the sponsor’s logo.""

Another positive review was written by this user:

"Thats fucking gorgeous 🔥🔥🔥""

A user called Venom questioned these kits, a

"What in the tik tok shop fake kit is this?""

Another fan couldn't believe that the third BVB kit didn't have yellow as its prominent color;

"A kit that's not yellow... Wow😂""

And finally, one X user came up with a cheeky play on words to denounce the kit as they merely quipped:

""Turd kit*""
