Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy is hungry more goals. He's enjoyed another prolific campaign on all fronts for the BVB, which he acknowledges, but aims for a bigger tally.

The Guinean international has abgged 16 league goals in the 2025-26 Bundesliga season and ahead of the season finale away to Werder Bremen tonight, he sat down for an interview with Bundesliga's official channel:

""They are good numbers for a striker, of course, but I always aim higher. They are very good statistics, but for me it’s still not enough. If you ask someone else and they hear 16 goals, they would probably be very happy. But for me, I want more. It’s not enough.""
said Guirassy on his numbers this season

While it's true that Guirassy's numbers have declined compared to his barnstorming debut campaign in 2024-25, he certainly has the right attitude while his hunger for goals bodes well with Dortmund's title ambitions.

The BVB are set for a massive squad overhaul this summer with an array of talents set to depart and a slew of fresh legs expected to arrive at Signal Iduna Park. Although Guirassy himself has been linked with a move away from Dortmund lately, there's no official confirmation from either him or the club on his departure.

Fans can only hope the Guinean ace stays put, for he's been phenomenal over the last two years. Signed from VfB Stuttgart in 2024 for what's now a bargain price of €18 million, Guirassy has gone hell for leather.

In his first season, the striker bagged a mammoth 38 goals in all competitions of which 21 came in the Bundesliga, the most behind only Bayern Munich's Harry Kane (26), but picked up the Champions League Golden Boot for his 13-goal tally.

Under Niko Kovac's first full season in-charge, there's been a visible drop in form despite a barnstorming run at the start that saw Guirassy score in their first four games in all competitions. His form grew patchy until February this year when he regained some of the consistency.

A figure of 21 goals from 45 games still seems admirable for a 30-year-old, whose tally of 16 in the league is bettered only by two players, Kane (33) and Deniz Undav (19).

Moreover, he's not just stat-padding. Guirassy has scored some really crucial goals that have helped the Black and Yellows turn the tide in fixtures, demonstrating his big-game mentality and the ability to deliver in key moments.

The fact that he refuses to rest on his laurels and wants to aim for more goals is certainly appreciated, especially as the club aims to launch a serious title bid next season to end their 14-year wait for the Meisterschale.
