Borussia Dortmund's Salih Ozcan and Daniel Svensson have reached the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs with their respective national sides.

Svensson, a key left-back for the Black and Yellows this season, was a part of Sweden's squad that beat Ukraine 3-1 in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Although the Dortmund man didn't start the game, he came on in the 73rd minute and ensured that things remained kosher at the back to prevent the hosts from fighting back in the dying embers.

The Blagult now face Poland in a crunch game on Tuesday that will decide who reaches the World Cup finals, where the Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia await in a tough-looking Group F.

For all his eye-catching displays with Dortmund this season, Svensson will be gunning for a start on Tuesday as Sweden aim to qualify for the first time since 2018.

Meanwhile Salih Ozcan will also be in action on Tuesday as Turkey face Kosovo in the playoff finals. Earlier this week, the Turks beat Romania 1-0 although Ozcan remained an unused substitute in the game.

Ferdi Kadioglu struck the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute as the Crescent Stars overcame a toothless Romanian side to book their place in Tuesday's finals.

It's been a tough season for Ozcan on the club front though, with the midfielder making only seven appearances in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund.

Lately, he's also missed out on plenty of games with an injury, which explains why he didn't start Turkey's game on Thursday either.

In the decider against Kosovo, the 28-year-old could see a few minutes at some point in the game as Ozcan remains a talented figure and is widely expected to be a part of Turkey's World Cup squad if they make it.

In other news, Ramy Bensebaini played 69 minutes of Algeria's incredible 7-0 friendly win over Guatemala on Saturday but couldn't bag a goal or an assist.

Dortmund's Austrian duo Marcel Sabitzer and Carney Chukwuemeka both were on target in their 5-1 shellacking of Ghana on Friday. It was Chukwuemeka's first international game for Das Team since switching from England and the young dynamite marked the occasion with a goal.

Gregor Kobel was in goal for Switzerland's friendly against Germany but had a torrid time as his side lost 4-3 with Nico Schlotterbeck featuring for Die Mannschaft in the starting XI. Waldemar Anton remained an unused substitute.
