It's all over for Dortmund, surely!

Borussia Dortmund succumbed to a shock 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Robert Andrich struck the only goal of the game as Bayern Munich were left on the brink of title.

Coming into the fixture on the back of four consecutive league wins, the Black and Yellows were heavy favorites to prevail here given their solid record on home turf this season, although a cup loss to Die Werkself at Signal Iduna Park a few months ago was still fresh in the memory.

Just like that clash in November 2025, Niko Kovac's side appeared toothless in front of goal once again and were caught napping at the wheel as Andrich struck from outside the box to break the deadlock.

Dortmund huffed and puffed but couldn't find the elusive equalizer, with no substitute coming up with heroics this time around as they suffered just their third loss of the top-flight campaign. But it is still costly as Bayern are now just four points away from the title.

Leverkusen have made Westfalonstadion their own

Seriously, it's no joke! Bayer Leverkusen have now won three consecutive games at the Signal Iduna Park and gone their last four without a defeat. An impressive feat considering Dortmund's terrific home record in recent years.

While the rest of the Bundesliga - besides Bayern Munich - dropped points there in the 2025-26 league campaign, the Black and Yellows themselves have struggled at home to Die Werkself, who have made the ground their own.

Dortmund forget their attacking shoes at home

This has to be one of their worst games from an attacking standpoint. Forget scoring, Dortmund couldn't muster even a single shot on target in the clash. The fact that this was a home game is a further damning indictment of their struggles.

For a side that has posted the most number of goals in the league after only Bayern, it was truly shocking to see the BVB wasteful in front of goal despite attempting 13 shots and boasting possession for over half the time (53%).

Bayern on the brink

If there were any hopes of Dortmund catching up with Bayern, it's surely over now. The Bavarians need just four points from their last five games to clinch the Bundesliga title again.

In fact, if Dortmund drop points away to Hoffenheim next weekend, they could be crowned champions on 19 April at home against Stuttgart with just a draw.
