Felix Nmecha has expressed his delight at signing a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until June 2030.

The 25-year-old has developed into a vital figure in Niko Kovac's squad, establishing himself among the best midfielders in the Bundesliga and was rewarded for the same.

Now, the player has opened up on his new contract, admitting his delight at having extended his stay at the club by a few more years. He said:

""I think it's a very special moment for me, for my family. And for my father to also be here today was really great. I'm happy.""
he said.

Since joining from VfL Wolfsburg in 2023, Nmecha has accumulated 108 appearances for the side in all competitions, including 71 in the Bundesliga, while bagging 13 goals too.

Opening up on his initial struggles at Dortmund and earning respect within the squad after creating impact, the German international said:

""I think when you're new and don't have an easy start, it's difficult to be a real leader. When you're doing better on the pitch, there's also more respect. You can try it beforehand, but I think the impact on the team is different afterwards.""
Nmecha added.

Nmecha played only 29 games for Dortmund in his first season as the player struggled for a regular start in the XI, but it changed the following season as the German played 41 times. In the current one, he has played in 38 games and could surpass his appearance-mark soon with Dortmund having nine more games left to play before the season concludes.

On his personal dynamic with his Dortmund teammates, Nmecha said he enjoys good relations with everyone in the side.

""I'm pretty good with everyone. I have pretty good relationships in the team. And I just try to be nice, because I think it's much more than just football. Even though football plays such a big role in our lives, I think it's really important that we also look at ourselves as people.""
the German added

Excellent at carrying the ball forward with his innate dribbling skills and highly accurate passer, Nmecha is key to feeding more advanced players and develop attacking phases. But the player vows to get better at his craft.

""I just want to improve with every game and maximize my abilities, push hard whenever I'm on the pitch. I'm looking forward to that.""
he concluded.
