Borussia Dortmund said goodbye to Julian Brandt as the player departs the club after seven unblemished years. The German international's contract is up next month and the parties mutually agreed not to extend it further, paving the way for him to leave on a free transfer.

Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, Brandt had developed in their key midfield linchpin and had been at the heart of their attacking plays over the years, pulling the strings with his impeccable passing range, excellent ball control, exemplary creative abilities and a keen eye for goal too.

His departure is set to leave a massive void in Dortmund's midfield as the club now looks for a replacement who can take over the mantle of the talisman in that position and drive their offensive plays.

In honor of Brandt, let's look back upon some of his best moments at the club:

Goal on club debut vs Augsburg (August 2019)

Scoring a goal on your debut is always special, and Julian Brandt made sure his first appearance for BVB since the move was one to remember with a nonchalant finish from inside the box in the closing stages to put the final nail in Augsburg's coffin.

Wonder goal vs RB Leipzig (December 2019)

A few months later, Brandt arguably scored what would remain his best strike for the club. As Jadon Sancho found him in some space inside the box, Brandt calmly took the ball in his stride and spun away from a group of white shirt before adjusting the ball to his other foot and then unleashing a fearsome shot into the far corner. Assist vs PSG (April 2024)

In the run upto Dortmund's historic Champions League final in 2024, they beat PSG home and away in the semi-finals. Brandt was central to their 1-0 victory in Paris, sending in an unstoppable corner that perfectly picked out Matts Hummels, who headed it in as Die Borussen were through to the Wembley showpiece.

Brace vs Bodo/Glimt (December 2025)

One of his best Champions League performances came in the 2025-26 season when Brandt netted both of Dortmund's goals in their 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt during the league phase: the first after finishing off a rapid counterttack with a sublime kick over the goalkeeper while the second came off some good positioning and composure inside the box as the goalkeeper parried an incoming cross right into his path.
