Borussia Dortmund have been rendered goalless in the first half of their Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin. It's the fourth consecutive time in all competitions where the BVB have failed to score a goal in the first 45 minutes of a game.

Head coach Niko Kovac made five changes to his lineup tonight, bringing back all key first-team stars such as Serhou Guirassy, Julian Ryerson, Felix Nmecha, Ethan Nwaneri and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Yet, the scoreline makes for a grim reading right now as Dortmund have headed into the break level with the Iron Ones at 0-0.

Guirassy has been kept firmly under wraps with some close marking from Berlin centre-backs, while their midfield has proactively chased down every BVB player in possession, looking to intercept a pass or force a turnover.

Their aggressive style of play has yielded dividends so far, keeping their mighty visitors at bay, much to their fans' chagrin. BVB supporters took to X to make a few observations from the game so far, most of which are negative.

One X user by the name Florian wrote:

"Your performance can't be serious. You're offering nothing. Literally nothing. It's really outrageous what we're doing there."

Another one called for Niko Kovac to get sacked:

"Kovac raus!"

This fan slammed Nwaneri for a dismal performance:

"Dry loan Nwaneri
Can’t connect with the ball
Almost gets sent off in the 1st minute
Shoots like Kobel

€30m man Karetsas
Doesn’t have that ‘grinder’ DNA 🤢"

This user made a sarcastic remark about Kovac's recent contract extension:

"The Kovac contract extension is aging about as well as the Kehl contract extension."

Another X user questioned if Kovac is the right man for the job:

"According to Kovac, the wrong players were on the pitch against Bodø; now he’s swapped the players out, and we’re playing even worse… perhaps he’s the wrong coach?"

This particular fan predicts substitutes to make a difference again:

"Let’s sum it up: not a single shot on goal against the team in 16th place. For long stretches, this brand of football is truly unbearable.
And, as usual, we’ll likely wait until the 65th minute to make any creative substitutions."

One fan is clamoring for a change in offense:

"Get Nwenari out immediately, bring in Karetsas, and actually put him to proper use."

This X user tweeted:

"According to Kovac, aggression is the most important thing. They committed many fouls and played with great intensity. So why, then, did they fail to register a single shot on goal?"

Dortmund's playing style under Kovac was questioned by this BVB fan too:

"Niko Kovac manages (not for the first time) to make us play so poorly against a potential relegation candidate that we seem like one ourselves"
