Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac was content at having got the job done against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Maximilian Beier's 80th-minute strike earned them all three points as Dortmund temporarily assumed top spot in the league table with 17 in seven games.

The BVB started the match strongly with Fabio Silva firing a shot into the stands inside the opening 10 minutes before Serhou Guirassy had two attempts saved in the 15th and 17th minute.

Daniel Svensson rattled the crossbar from a corner later in the half as Kovac's side were all over the Eagles but weren't able to find a breakthrough yet.

"After such a demanding stretch of days, we had to dig deep in this match against a very good Eintracht team."

Dortmund called on a few substitutes in the second half which helped them maintain pressure on their visitors before eventually breaking the deadlock.

Just 15 seconds on the pitch, Jobe Bellingham combined superbly with Beier on the left before laying a pass for him to control and volley a peach of a strike into the far corner from outside the box.

"In the second half, we were able to increase the pressure, prevented opposition chances, and walked off the field deserved winners."
Kovac further added

Unlike in their last two games, Dortmund created clear-cut goalscoring chances in the match which required Atubolu's interventions while also severely debilitating Frankfurt forwards Younes Ebnoutalib and Jonathan Burkardt's impact at the other end.

This was Dortmund's first home game in four outings in all competitions, coming off trips to Norway, Berlin and Azerbaijan in just the last few days before Saturday's fixture. Kovac is delighted that his side was able to see off a sturdy Frankfurt side despite their unforgiving fixture list.

"Coming off those tough away games, What I care about most is that we beat a quality side. That's our takeaway, and we hope we can do it again in a few days."

The win marks Dortmund's first in the Bundesliga this month, after having drawn against Werder Bremen (2-2) and Union Berlin (0-0) in their last two league matches since returning from the international break.

It was their second official win on the bounce as Dortmund had also beaten Sabah FK in the Champions League on Tuesday as the side is gradually recovering from a period of mini slump.
