Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is currently enjoying a stress-free run in goal with Switzerland, easing to his second clean sheet in a row without having to face a shot in their 3-0 defeat of Scotland.
Following up on their facile 3-0 win over North Macedonia last week, La Nati made it six points from a possible six in the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaign as Ricardo Rodriguez, Nico Elvedi and Zeki Amdouni scored a goal apiece to down the hapless Tartan Army.
Stoic Swiss defense takes pressure off Kobel
Just as we saw in their last match against North Macedonia, the Swiss played a strong defensive game which frustrated Scotland, who failed to muster a single effort on target and went the entire match without ever testing Kobel.
The home side started off brightly, keeping possession and looking to make inroads into the Swiss penalty box, but Switzerland's excellent positional awareness means they closed down all the passing channels and Scotland's attacking moves fizzled out on a whimper.
Where Kobel truly made a mark though, was in his distributions. Calm and collected, he kept La Nati ticking with his crisp and accurate passing. It helped them build attacks from deep and the BVB custodian rarely put a foot wrong while circulating.
Switzerland finished the match with 21 shots, of which nine were on target, which tell you just how dominant they were in the clash and on which side of goal most of the action was witnessed. Kobel was a mere spectator to that, not having to exert himself much following a frantic start by Scotland and just see the action unfold on the opposite goal.
A 10th clean sheet against Slovenia?
There's no denying Kobel's prolific shotstopping ability. He just hasn't been tested yet in the Nations League so far, with neither North Macedonia nor Scotland being able to muster a shot on target or call him into action for anything. The bar has been that low so far.
And in all honesty, the Swiss defense has been exceptionally solid too. Murat Yakin's side have truly impressed with their defensive shape on and off the ball, while staying intact in the fleeting moments of transition so far too.
At this rate, Switzerland are likely to pick up another easy win over Slovenia and without conceding a goal either, in which case, it would be the 10th clean sheet for Kobel too.
