Nuri Sahin remains determined to weather the storm and get Borussia Dortmund back on track despite growing calls for him to be sacked.
Borussia Dortmund made it four defeats in their last five games on Tuesday evening as they were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by VfL Wolfsburg. The Black and Yellows have endured a poor start to the season and find themselves in a precarious position going into this weekend's crucial Bundesliga clash at home to RB Leipzig.
Nuri Sahin determined to get Borussia Dortmund back on track
The pressure is mounting on Nuri Sahin, even though he retains the support of the Borussia Dortmund bosses for now. The former BVB midfielder replaced Edin Terzic as head coach in the summer but has not been able to stamp his authority on the team in the way he would have liked as of yet.
Many fans are calling for Borussia Dortmund to take action and part ways with Sahin. But the 36 year old is determined to lead the team out of troubled waters.
Asked about what the result could mean for his future, Sahin told Sky Sport, "It's not about my personal situation. It's about moving the club forward, getting back on the right track as quickly as possible and winning our games."
"It's not about me. It's about the club and I have a responsibility as a coach. Believe me, it's also extremely bitter and disappointing for me that we're in such a situation right now. There's nothing else we can do but carry on."
With three games to go before the next international break, the pressure is certainly on Nuri Sahin and his team to get things right. And it will be interesting to see what kind of response the team shows against RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.
