Nuri Sahin was full of praise of Ramy Bensebaini after the left-back scored his first goal in Borussia Dortmund colours on Friday evening.

Ramy Bensebaini opened his goalscoring account for Borussia Dortmund against St. Pauli on Friday with a fantastic header from 14 yards out. The goal proved to be crucial, as the Black and Yellows claimed a hard fought 2-1 win over the newly promoted side. And the left-back will hope to use it as a springboard to become a regular in the BVB starting XI.

In addition to his well taken goal, Bensebaini also made a number of vital contributions in defence against St. Pauli, including a fantastic last-ditch tackle after a sloppy turnover from Emre Can. And Nuri Sahin hailed the Algerian international after the game.

"I already said in the summer that I find him to be a very exciting player. I was already a huge fan of his when he was still playing for Gladbach. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for him. Now it's about getting consistency into his game," Sahin said via Süddeutsche Zeitung.

After a difficult debut season at Borussia Dortmund, the Algerian international is starting to show the quality that prompted the club to sign him last year.

With Yan Couto sidelined due to injury, Ramy Bensebaini is expected to keep his place in the starting XI. And more good performances in the coming weeks would go a long way in convincing Sahin that he should be the team's first-choice left-back.

Next up for Borussia Dortmund is a trip to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, and Bensebaini could be in for an intriguing test against their star-studded attack that includes the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham.
