Since Sahin's sacking this past week was not a surprise to anyone, it has been a mystery who will fill Borussia Dortmund's head coach vacancy. In the past few days, a few names have been linked to the club, indicating that BVB will likely assign a "gap manager" to survive until the end of the season and wait until the summer to attack the market. One of those names is the most exciting young manager in German football since Nagelsmann: Sebastian Hoeneß.

Sebastian Hoeneß has become unarguably a rising star coach in the Bundesliga. Despite a not-very-successful career as an attacking midfielder, playing for clubs like Hertha Berlin BSC II and TSG Hoffenheim, Hoeneß has proved himself in the managerial role.

Since joining VfB Stuttgart in April 2023, a club he anteriorly played for in his youth football years, Hoeneß has taken a team that fought against relegation in the previous campaign to a second-place finish and Champions League participant after 15 years. In other words, Hoeneß took a middle-to-lower table team in the league and transformed them into consistent competitors at a national and international level. With a 7-8 million euros release clause ready to be triggered by the end of the season, there are many reasons why Hoeneß has become one of the favorites to become Borussia Dortmund's long-term plan for th summer.
