Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani
As we get closer to the summer transfer window, Borussia Dortmund’s transfer plans are set to continue to develop for the coming season. In this vein, reports coming out of France have now linked Dortmund with what would be a shock move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
The report indicates that Dortmund would favor a loan with an option to buy however they would reportedly be willing to spend closer to 50 million euros on the French international. Kolo Muani has struggled to make a massive impact in Paris this season, with the player only scoring 9 goals and 5 assists, which when compared to his output for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga is a significant drop in performance. His numbers for Frankfurt reached the lofty heights of 23 goals and 14 assists in all competitions.
Considering the alleged 40 million budget Dortmund have set for transfers this season, not including player sales, it seems rather far-fetched to think Dortmund would break their current transfer signing record by such a significant margin. This becomes slightly more palatable should the sale of Donyell Malen come to fruition this summer, but even then Dortmund would likely want to spread the funds across the rest of the starting 11, especially with so many outgoing players at the end of this season.
There is a plausible situation where Paris Saint-Germain would look to move players on, which may involve Kolo Muani, to facilitate the purchase of a star to replace the outgoing Kylian Mbappe. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been noted as targets, both of which would be costly investments. As of right now however, the report indicates Paris is not considering moving Kolo Muani on.
Kolo Muani represents a rather exciting, yet unrealistic transfer target as things stand. Barring any unexpected surprises, should Dortmund look to get a new striker, it is more likely that they would target more affordable options.
