Borussia Dortmund appear to be closing in on the signing of Rayan Cherki, with reports claiming that an agreement is on the verge of being sealed over a deal worth 15 million euros.

Rayan Cherki emerged as Borussia Dortmund's top target for the attacking midfield role last month, and it appears that they are now set to secure his signature. According to Lyon-based newspaper Le Progrès, the Black and Yellows are very close to reaching an agreement over the transfer of the 20 year old.

Borussia Dortmund would pay 15 million euros plus bonuses for Rayan Cherki

It remains to be seen just how much truth there is to this claim. Although it was reported earlier this month that Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement on personal terms with Cherki.

Borussia Dortmund would like to bolster their attacking midfield ranks following the departure of Marco Reus. Gio Reyna is also free to leave the club, having failed to make an impact at BVB during the first half of last season (or at Nottingham Forest following the turn of the year).

Cherki is regarded as one of the most talented young playmakers in Europe, but also has plenty of experience under his belt, having already made a total of 141 appearances for Lyon. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Cherki, who has less than 12 months left on his current contract. But it appears that his preference is to join Borussia Dortmund.

The BVB bosses will hope to get the deal over the line soon. However, if the move does go through, Cherki would miss the majority of pre-season as he is part of the France squad for the Olympic Games.
