Highly rated centre-back Filippo Mané could be in line for a first-team promotion at Borussia Dortmund as he closes in on his return from injury.

Signed from Italian side Sampdoria in 2022, Filippo Mané is regarded very highly at Borussia Dortmund. The 18 year old has been sidelined for the last four months with a dislocated kneecap. But he is now closing in on his return to action with the BVB U-19s.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund are considering promoting Mané to the first-team squad as the club's fourth choice centre-back. The towering defender has earned rave reviews for his performances with the BVB U-19s, and is also attracting the interest of a number of clubs from the Italian Serie A.

Despite interest from other clubs, Mané is only focused on Borussia Dortmund. "Dortmund is the best place for me. Everyone here treats me very well. I really appreciate that," he told Ruhr Nachrichten, adding, "I'm patient and I'm not putting any extra pressure on myself. Everyone has their own journey."

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Filippo Mané, who has just under 18 months left on his current contract with Borussia Dortmund. Those in charge at BVB have been left very impressed with his quality and potential, and a space in the squad has also opened up following the sale of Hendry Blank to RB Salzburg during the winter transfer window. If Mané continues to impress for the BVB U-19s, a spot in the first-team could well be in the offing.
