Borussia Dortmund’s struggles against Bayern Munich (especially away from home) have been well documented over the years. So not many expected BVB to bring anything back from Bavaria when the two sides met in late March.
But Edin Terzic’s side produced one of their best performances of the season to get the better of their Bundesliga rivals. Led by the imperious defensive duo of Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck, BVB suffocated Bayern and starved them of any clear-cut opportunities.
Goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson secured a stunning 2-0 win for Borussia Dortmund, as they finally managed to breach the Allianz Arena fortress for the first time in seven years. And to make the win even sweeter, BVB got the three points despite having to make do without the injured Gregor Kobel and Donyell Malen.
