Second leg vs PSG
Borussia Dortmund went into the second leg of their Champions League semifinal with the chance to make history and a one-goal lead in the bank. Still, most people expected Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele to lead PSG to the final.
But Borussia Dortmund overcame the odds once again. They put in a defensive performance of the highest quality, with Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck starring once again. Julian Ryerson also had an excellent game, keeping Mbappe at bay for the majority of the 90 minutes.
On the other end of the pitch, Hummels found the breakthrough with a fine header from a corner to double Borussia Dortmund's lead on aggregate.
PSG were unable to mount a comeback, and Borussia Dortmund celebrated their place in the Champions League final for the first time since 2013.
Marco Reus’ farewell match
Borussia Dortmund concluded their Bundesliga campaign against bottom club Darmstadt, with Marco Reus bidding farewell to the club. The BVB legend was the star of the show and led his side to an emphatic 4-0 win.
Ian Maatsen, Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen were also on target for Borussia Dortmund, who ended their Bundesliga season in fifth place, enough to qualify for next season's Champions League.
There were emotional scenes at the Westfalenstadion before, during and after the game as fans paid tribute to one of Borussia Dortmund’s greatest players of all time. Reus scored with a sublime free-kick and also got two assists, calling time on an incredible 12 year spell at BVB in sublime fashion.
