Borussia Dortmund made an excellent run to the UEFA Champions League final last season, where they were beaten by Real Madrid. Edin Terzic's side defeated the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, and PSV Eindhoven en route to the club's first Champions League final since 2013.

Former Borussia Dortmund player Mats Hummels has been named on the 30-player shortlist for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award. The veteran centre-back rolled back the years with his performances last season, and left BVB when his contract expired this summer. He joined AS Roma on a one-year contract earlier on Wednesday.
Other contenders for the Ballon d'Or award include former Borussia Dortmund duo Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, as well as Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe.
