Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in Rayan Cherki, with reports in France claiming that they are in pole position to sign the talented attacking midfielder.

With Marco Reus and quite possibly Gio Reyna leaving the club this summer, Borussia Dortmund will likely look to bolster their attacking midfield ranks. And according to reports in France, they have found their top target in Rayan Cherki. RMC Sport claim that the Black and Yellows are leading the race to sign the 20 year old and an agreement over a transfer fee of around 15 million euros is expected to be reached between the two clubs.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, while Borussia Dortmund’s interest in signing Cherki is genuine, they have only made an initial inquiry for the player and his agent so far. Concrete negotiations with the club or the player have yet to take place, and an agreement is by no means close to being reached.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been heavily linked with a move for Cherki in recent weeks, but RMC Sport add that he is unlikely to join the French capital club. The France U-21s international scored three goals and assists a further nine for Olympique Lyonnais in the recently concluded season.

Rayan Cherki is rated very highly in France, and already has made a total of 141 first-team appearances for Lyon despite his young age. He is also capable of playing in a variety of different positions in attack, and versatility is an attribute that is highly valued at Borussia Dortmund. But it still remains to be seen just how serious BVB's interest is in signing the young midfielder.
