Borussia Dortmund on the verge of signing Pascal Groß
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are closing in on the signing of Pascal Groß, with the midfielder set to join from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee in the region of 7-10 million euros.
On the back of his stellar season with Brighton & Hove Albion, Pascal Groß is set to secure a move to Borussia Dortmund. Multiple reports in Germany claim that the Black and Yellows are on the verge of sealing an agreement with the 33 year old. According to BILD, Brighton will receive a fee of around 7-10 million euros and Groß will sign a 2-3 year contract with BVB.
Eintracht Frankfurt were earlier leading the race to sign Groß, before Borussia Dortmund made their move for the Germany international. If the transfer goes through, the midfielder will return to German football after spending the last seven years with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Groß showcased his sublime creativity and quality in front of goal this season, scoring five goals and assisting a further 13 from midfield for Brighton. He was rewarded for his performances with a call-up to the Germany squad for Euro 2024.
The impending arrival of Groß should bolster the Borussia Dortmund midfield that struggled to dominate games in the recently concluded season. Capable of playing in a variety of different roles in the middle of the park and also out wide, the signing of Groß could prove to be a very shrewd piece of business from Sebastian Kehl and co.
Pascal Groß began his career at TSG Hoffenheim, and also played from Karlsruher SC and FC Ingolstadt, before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in 2017. He showed this season that he is capable of being a difference maker on a consistent basis, even at the age of 33. And Borussia Dortmund will hope that he can have a similar impact at the Westfalenstadion next season.
