Borussia Dortmund are considering making a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Groß, who could be available for a cut-price fee this summer.

With Marco Reus leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, signing a replacement will be high on the club’s list of priorities. And BVB are seemingly considering making a move for Pascal Groß, with BILD reporting that those in charge are assessing their chances of signing the 33 year old.

Groß could make his return to the Bundesliga this summer after seven years at Brighton & Hove Albion. The versatile midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in recent weeks, and the Eagles are said to pushing for his signature. Groß has 12 months left on his current contract with Brighton, and would likely be able to leave this summer for a relatively low fee.

Signing a player like Groß would undoubtedly improve the overall quality of the Borussia Dortmund midfield. The Black and Yellows’ struggles in the middle of the park were well documented this season, although Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt formed a strong partnership in the closing stages of the campaign.

While he is primarily a number eight, Groß is also more than comfortable playing in defensive midfield, the number ten role, and also at right-back. He has enjoyed a stunning late-career resurgence and has also established himself as a regular member of the Germany squad.

Pascal Groß assisted 13 goals and scored five in 47 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion this season, an impressive tally considering his team’s overall struggles.
